Insights from ICEX’s Advisory Council: Unlocking the Future of Spanish Food & Wine in China

Last week we had the opportunity to meet with key experts in the food and wine industry in Beijing as part of the Advisory Council for the Spanish agri-food sector in China, a project funded by ICEX. This initiative seeks the support and expert advice of Advisory Councils made up of well-known leaders in the food and beverage sectors who have a deep understanding of the market and current trends, allowing them to provide recommendations and guidelines on how Spanish products should be positioned.

Their advice will help agri-food companies and public institutions develop effective strategies for the Mainland China market.

This is the second edition of the Advisory Council in China.

We are currently working towards two specific goals: Firstly, to find a new positioning and compelling “storytelling” for Spanish wine. Spain has long been a major producer of a wide variety of high-quality wines, and we aim to highlight this heritage more effectively. Secondly, we are exploring ways to boost the presence of Spanish gastronomy in China’s food service sector, identifying which products or dishes appeal most to Chinese consumers.

The project is underway, concluding with a Summit on the 23rd of September in Beijing, where the Council will reunite and the conclusions will be shared. We are looking forward to that!
