We headed south to Guangzhou with three classic European olive varieties and several flavoured ones, landing at the 2025 Food2China Expo on 26 September. The event was part of the European Olives campaign, led by Interaceituna and co-funded by the EU.
Visitors gathered around our booth, where the cooking zone quickly became the main attraction. Our chef paired olives with fruit, seafood and ham, creating fresh and unexpected bites that showed just how versatile European olives can be.
The energy carried through to the interactive area, where games and lucky draws gave visitors a fun way to learn about the nutritional value and long cultivation history of European olives.
Later, a seminar brought together experts in food R&D, market expansion and nutrition. They shared insights on how olives fit into modern cuisine, followed by a hands-on cooking demo that turned knowledge into flavour.
By the end of the day, everyone left with new ideas (and a few recipes) for cooking with olives.
Thanks to the team who made it all come together: Michelle Li, Jake Xu, Erin Wang, Nini Zhang.
