We’re still savouring the memories from the exclusive Olives, Spain’s Superfood dinner that our team put together in Beijing on October 28, where acclaimed Chinese chef Xianbin Shen created a special menu blending Spanish olives with Chinese cuisine, as part of the campaign led by ICEX and Interaceituna.
Chef Shen showed his creativity in every dish, using different olive varieties, such as Manzanilla and Gordal, and mixing them into traditional Chinese dishes, bringing Mediterranean brightness into local flavours. One example is “福禄同攸 Fulu Tong You”, a dish featuring abalone, sea cucumber, and olives, that beautifully expressed Fu, the Chinese symbol of good fortune.
Guests including Estefanía Roncero Fernández, Spain’s Economic and Commercial Counsellor in Beijing, Mr. Ying Xing from the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry, and Mr. Cheng Liao from Canlu Culture joined the dinner, making the evening even more memorable.
Kudos to our team on the ground who worked hard on this: Michelle Li, Jake Xu, Nini Zhang, Gloria Nie, Thomas Fan.
This dinner marked the start of a one-month olive celebration across Beijing, with three partner restaurants bringing the olive-meets-China story to even more food lovers.
