The Geographical Indications Products Expo (GIPE Luzhou) is China’s largest exhibition focused on Geographical Indication (GI) products. Held annually in Luzhou (Sichuan) every September, the event has showcased global GI products since 2021.
During this year’s edition of the Luzhou Expo, we organised the Spanish GI Pavilion. Spanning over 300 sqm, the pavilion showcased 60 Spanish GI products, including a variety of foods and beverages, highlighting Spain’s rich culinary heritage and tradition.
On the first day, an inaugural ceremony took place with Mr. Carlos Sáenz de Tejada Gorman, Consul General of Spain in Chengdu, and Mr. Yu Xianhe, Mayor of Luzhou, delivering keynote presentations. Representatives from China, the EU, and Spain participated in the ribbon-cutting and celebrated with a Cava toast.
During the three exhibition days, we organized tastings, product presentations, and some interactive games for the curious audience. Around 1,000 visitors tasted Spanish GI food and beverages prepared by professional chefs and sommeliers.
