Spanish Wine Specialist Course Tasting Held in Guangzhou

The Spanish Wine Specialist course, a core programme of the Food and Wine of Spain Academy led by ICEX-CECO, held its tasting session in Guangzhou on 6 November.

Mr. Jaime Lorenzo Garcia-ormaechea, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Consulate General of Spain in Guangzhou, attended the event and spoke about the course’s role in promoting Spanish products. He highlighted the upcoming Level 2 programme in Spain, noted the distinctive qualities of Spanish wines, and encouraged participants to continue learning and stay connected with the Consulate.

The session was conducted by Master of Wine Fengyi Zhao, who guided in-person participants through 15 wines. The tasting list was carefully arranged to include the required red and white varieties, along with a Cava and a Sherry, giving participants a direct sense of the diversity within Spanish wine.

Participants also sampled classic Spanish foods, including Manchego cheese, Ibérico ham, and two varieties of Spanish table olives. The quality and flavours drew strong interest, with several attendees asking for purchase links for the ham and cheese.

The course continues, and we look forward to seeing participants deepen their knowledge of Spanish wine and gastronomy.
