EU-China GI Agreement. Strengthening European Geographical Indications in China
EIBENS has actively promoted EU-China Geographical Indications (GIs) through activities implemented under projects supporting the EU-China Agreement on Cooperation on, and Protection of, Geographical Indications.
Our work spans trade fair booths, institutional events, and market activations across China, all designed to raise the profile of protected European and Spanish agri-food products among Chinese consumers and businesses, connecting the unique quality and heritage of EU GIs with one of the world’s most dynamic markets.

Key objectives:
- Increase awareness and understanding of the EU–China GI system and protected European GI products among professionals and consumers.
- Highlight the link between product origin, quality and authenticit
- Promote direct experience with GI products through tasting and interaction
Key activities:
- Design and operation of EU and Spanish GI pavilions and booths at exhibitions and institutional events
- Product displays presenting protected GI agri-food products
- On-site tastings allow visitors to experience GI products directly
- Interactive explanations of the GI system, origin and protection
- Engagement with professionals, institutions, media and invited stakeholders
